Foyer Cabinet

This 20 year old cabinet had seen some years. It was purchased originally at a warehouse sale from Ethan Allen for 50 dollars - such a low price for a quality hardwood piece due to some damages to the finish.

Over the years it had other transformations. There were multiple layers of finish with the final coat being an espresso black. It lacked personality and its use had devolved to just being a storage piece in a spare room with other mismatched furniture. There it was left for utility, not for appreciation.

A crackle finish seemed the way for this shaker furniture design piece to break out some originality and reclaim a position of importance in the home.

After being such a dark color for so long, I felt inspired to give the cabinet a brighter gray paint with dark smoke blue undertones.

Look at it now!

After applying the coats of paint, all it took to dress it up even further was a new set of hardware, and some clear polyurethane finish.

This entry foyer cabinet really makes a statement and no longer needs to be hidden in the shadows.
